Bill went by “Willie” to his buddies at Goddard College
and studied under David Mamet, a graduate student instruc-
tor. It was at college Bill decided he wanted to be an actor
instead of a veterinarian, his first love. Bill filmed his first
film, The Awakening Land, by the time he was 27; he al-
ready had plenty of stage work on his resumé by that time.

Bill co-founded the St. Nicholas Theatre in Chicago with
David Mamet and Steven Schachter, a later screenwriting
and directing partner. He also co-founded the North At-
lantic Theatre Company in New York City where he met
Felicity Huffman. Performing in numerous plays together,
including a nearly countless number by David Mamet, the
couple's relationship grew into a romance that lasted about
ten years before the two finally tied the knot on the 6th of
September, 1997. Sofia Grace Macy was born the the 1st of
August, 2000 and Georgia Grace Macy was born on the 14th
of March, 2002.
